Many things in life today can pull us away from the self...depression, anxiety, disordered eating, alcohol and drugs. Therapy is a time to stop and just be with the self...My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for self exploration.
My passion in counseling is helping individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and with others. While I have specific skills, knowledge and training, my clients are the "experts" of their own lives. In counseling we work together to help the person find his/her own answers. I believe each of us has our own inner wisdom and my role as a psychotherapist is to help the client access that wisdom.
My style of therapy is eclectic. I use psychodrama, an action alternative to traditional talk therapy. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and have extensive experience working with eating disorders. I am also trained in EMDR, which is helpful in working through issues related to traumatic events.
